How to propagate bird's nest fern

Spore reproduction

In spring, sterilize the prepared sowing soil with high temperature, put it into a pot and flatten it, then sprinkle the mature spores on the potting soil evenly, then immerse the whole pot in water to make the potting soil fully moist, cover it with a glass pot to keep it moist, and finally put it in a cool place. It will germinate in 7 to 10 days, and green protothus will grow in about a month. After 3 months, several true leaves will grow, and then it can be potted for cultivation.

Propagation by division

In late spring and early summer, new buds are about to grow. Before the new buds are born, use a knife to carefully cut the parts of the plant that need to be divided, and then plant them separately. The method of dividing the bird's nest fern is quite special. Choose a relatively strong plant and cut it from the base in late spring into 2 to 4 pieces. Then cut the leaves shorter by about one third to one half. Each piece must have some leaves and rhizomes. Then place them in pots and cultivate them separately to make them grow into individual plants. The temperature where the potted plants are placed should be kept above 20°C, the environment should be semi-shaded, and the air humidity should be high, so that the wound can heal as quickly as possible.

Cultivation and management of bird's nest fern

The growth temperature should be maintained at 16~27℃. When the temperature is high in summer, it is necessary to cool down and keep moisture. When the temperature is low in winter, it can be moved indoors for cultivation. The potted bird's nest fern needs to maintain a certain humidity. Moisture of the potting soil and the air humidity are essential. It needs to be watered sufficiently during the growing season, and water can be sprinkled on the surrounding ground to increase humidity. In terms of fertilizer, during the growth period of the bird's nest fern, you can apply a balanced fertilizer of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium every half a month to promote the continuous growth of a large number of healthy new leaves. Stop applying fertilizer when the temperature is too high in summer or too low in winter.

The above is the propagation method of bird's nest fern!
