How to cultivate Imperata cylindrica

1. Soil

Imperata has a strong ability to adapt to soil and can grow in almost any extreme environment. But it is best to choose loose, moist sandy or alluvial soil. The field should be deeply plowed once before planting, and the soil should be loosened regularly to ensure soil permeability.

2. Lighting

It does not require much light and can tolerate shade. But try not to plant it in a place that is shaded all year round. With sufficient light, its rhizome can grow up to two meters, which can increase its vitality.

3. Temperature

The optimal annual temperature for its growth is between 15-25℃, and it prefers a warm climate. Growth is slow below 0℃.

4. Watering

Keeping the surrounding environment moist is conducive to its growth. After sowing the seeds in the fields in spring, they need to be watered enough so that they can sprout in a dozen days. In subsequent breeding, water and fertilizer should be supplemented in time according to the soil and growth conditions to keep the soil moist.

5. Notes

1. Harvesting: It can be harvested multiple times after one planting. It can be harvested from the lower end of the stem, and do not pull it out by the roots.

2. Weeding: Weeding needs to be done 4-5 times a year to increase soil permeability and nutrient supply and help plant growth. However, because it has a low resistance to herbicides, it cannot be sprayed with herbicides to kill weeds.
