How to grow hibiscus

How to grow hibiscus

1. Soil

Hibiscus has low requirements for soil and can adapt well to any soil except soil with high salinity and alkali content. It is best to use loose, fertile, well-drained, slightly acidic clay soil.

2. Temperature

It likes a warm climate and the optimum temperature is between 15-25℃. In winter, it needs to be moved indoors at a room temperature of 15-22℃ for cultivation, otherwise it will not be able to survive the winter in northern regions.

3. Watering

Water it sufficiently, usually once a day, and make sure it is watered thoroughly. In summer, water the plant once in the morning and once in the evening every day, and spray water frequently to increase the humidity of the air and prevent the flowers and leaves from falling prematurely. In winter, you should reduce watering and stop fertilizing to ensure that the plant survives the winter safely.

4. Lighting

Give it more than 8 hours of light every day. If there is insufficient light, the buds will fall off, the flowers will shrink, and the color will fade. But in summer it needs shade to avoid direct sunlight.

Plant.

5. Fertilization

Hibiscus requires a large amount of fertilizer. You can use an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer, phosphorus fertilizer and decomposed compost to mix as base fertilizer; fertilize 1-2 times a month with some urea aqueous solution and weak fertilizer mainly composed of phosphorus fertilizer.

6. Repotting

The pot should be changed before moving outdoors in early spring in April every year. Three things need to be done when repotting: first, replace the culture soil with new one; second, cut off some of the dense and curled fibrous roots; third, apply enough base fertilizer to ensure the fertility of the soil.
