Cultivation method of double-petaled plum

Cultivation method of double-petaled plum

1. Soil

When planting double-petaled plum, loose, fertile, slightly acidic sandy soil should be used to ensure good aeration and drainage. It is best to use sandy loam and add a certain amount of leaf mold to increase soil fertility.

2. Temperature

It is resistant to high temperatures but not cold, and the most suitable temperature for its growth is 15-30℃. In summer, it can adapt to temperatures as high as 35°C. The winter temperature is generally higher than 5℃, so it is best to overwinter indoors or in a greenhouse.

3. Watering

In spring and autumn, you can water it once a day, in summer, water it once in the morning and evening, and in winter, you can water it less. But be careful not to have water accumulation in the potting soil, otherwise the roots will easily rot.

4. Lighting

Its newly sprouted seedlings should be placed in semi-shade for maintenance, and it is best to give it full-sun light environment every day. In winter, it needs to be exposed to diffuse light for about 8 hours, otherwise it may have problems with leaf fall.

5. Notes

1. Fertilization: It is best to apply a thin layer of base fertilizer at the bottom when planting, and apply additional fertilizer once during its growth and development, and then apply fertilizer according to its growth.

2. Pruning: You can give it a heavy pruning every 5 years, and usually just slightly trim the overly long branches and leaves.
