How to cultivate Indian rubber tree

How to cultivate Indian rubber tree

1. Soil

It is recommended to use breathable, water-permeable, fertile, slightly acidic soil for growing Indian rubber trees. It is best to prepare the potting soil with leaf mold, grass ash soil and a small amount of river sand.

2. Temperature

Its best growth temperature is 20-25℃, and it is relatively heat-resistant and can grow well even above 30 degrees. However, it has very poor cold resistance. If the temperature is too low in winter, it will shed a large number of leaves and needs to overwinter indoors in northern regions.

3. Watering

During the high temperatures of summer, it grows faster and needs to be watered abundantly and thoroughly, but water accumulation in the potting soil should be avoided. Reduce watering in autumn to promote full growth of the plant and help it survive the winter smoothly.

4. Lighting

Giving it plenty of sunlight will allow it to thrive, but be careful to provide it with adequate shade during the strong summer light from May to September. Light intensity can be controlled using shade nets, etc.

5. Notes

1. Fertilization: You can apply some nitrogen fertilizer, just the right amount. It can reduce the occurrence of stripes and make the leaves brighter, but remember to stop fertilizing it in winter.

2. Pruning: It is best to prune it in spring, cutting off forked branches, inward branches and thin branches to maintain ventilation and good light transmission inside the tree.
