How to grow Staghorn Begonia

How to grow Staghorn Begonia

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: It is a succulent plant. During maintenance, you can use the same soil as other succulents, which should be breathable and loose.

2. Watering: The soil does not need to be moistened frequently during maintenance, it is best to keep it dry. It is drought-resistant and not easily killed by drought, but it will die if there is stagnant water.

3. Light: It likes light, so you can usually put it in a well-lit place, but it should be shaded in summer and not exposed to strong light. It should be moved to a cool place for maintenance in time.

4. Pests and diseases: If the humidity is high during maintenance, it is easy to cause diseases, so spray pesticides in time for prevention and control. The main insect pests are scale insects, which should be controlled immediately when discovered.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Sowing: Sowing usually takes place between April and May in spring. The seeds are planted directly on the soil surface and will germinate in about ten days. The root system of its seedlings is very shallow, so be careful when watering to avoid damaging the roots. Cultivate them for about a month and then transplant them after they are completely stable.

2. Cuttings: Cuttings can be done in spring and autumn. Select full stem nodes, cut them into small segments of eight to ten centimeters, and insert them into the sand bed. They will take root in about half a month. When the roots grow to two or three centimeters long, they can be planted in pots.
