1. Introduction to Lotus

Lotus is one of the top ten famous flowers in China. It is also known as lotus, water hibiscus, etc. It belongs to the water lilies family and is a perennial aquatic herbaceous flower of the Nelumbo family.

Morphological characteristics: Lotus is an aquatic plant with ventilation holes inside its rhizome. Its leaves are round, dark green in color, smooth on the top, and have obvious scattered veins on the back. Its flowers come in a variety of colors including pink, white, red and purple.

Growing environment: Lotus is suitable for growing in shallow water, ponds and other environments with calm water surface. Its water demand depends on its variety. Small and medium-sized plants only need to be planted at a depth of 20 to 60 centimeters, while varieties such as Red Thousand Leaves need to be planted at a relatively deeper water level.

Growth habits: Lotus has high requirements for sunlight and temperature. It is relatively heat-resistant and needs to be grown in an environment with more than four hours of sunshine. The temperature cannot be lower than twenty degrees, otherwise it will be difficult to bloom.

2. When does the lotus bloom?

Lotus flowers usually bloom in summer, which is from June to September. It starts to bloom in late June and reaches its peak flowering period in July. Then, due to the influence of geographical location and climate, lotus flowers will bloom relatively early in the southern regions and areas where the temperature rises quickly. In northern regions and areas where the temperature rises slowly, the flowering time of lotus will be delayed.
