All rotten roots in hydroponics are eliminated in one move, and the leaves are so green that they seem to be dripping with oil!

How to judge whether the hydroponics roots are rotten

1. Gently pull the root zone with your hands

Huahua usually first checks whether the roots have turned black or yellow, and then touches them with her hands to see if they have become soft. If you gently pull the root zone and find that the epidermis falls off easily, it means that the roots are rotten.

2. Smell with your nose

Use your nose to smell the roots of the plant and the water. If there is some bad smell, it means the roots are rotten.

Causes of root rot

1. Low dissolved oxygen content in the nutrient solution

There are many reasons for root rot in hydroponic plants, the most common reason is that there is a problem with the nutrient solution. For example, in the summer that just passed, when the weather got hot, the dissolved oxygen content in the thermos bottle would become low, which might cause oxygen deficiency in the plant roots.

Solution: Place the hydroponic bottle in a well-ventilated place at home.

2. Poor quality of nutrient solution

If there are substances in the nutrient solution, it may be because there are residual plant fragments and residual matrix in the water, which will also cause the nutrient solution to deteriorate.

Solution: Change the water every 2 to 3 days and check the quality of the nutrient solution.

3. The nutrient solution floods the plant roots

If the nutrient solution submerges all the roots of the plant and even the rhizomes, the roots will rot.

Solution: Expose half of the plant's roots to oxygen and half to a nutrient solution.

4. High nutrient solution temperature

When the temperature of the nutrient solution exceeds 30 degrees, the root system is prone to rot.

Solution: Provide proper shade for the plants.

How to deal with root rot

1. Cut off rotten roots in time

When you find root rot, take out the plant and place it in clean water to rinse the mucus on the roots. Do not rub it with your hands. Then cut off the rotten roots and place them in a ventilated place to dry.

2. Change the water in the hydroponic bottle

We need to clean the hydroponic bottles and replace them with new water. If you use tap water at home, you should ventilate the water one day before changing the water to remove the chlorine. Wait until new roots grow before using nutrient solution (or you can use no nutrient solution at all).

Precautions

1. Temperature

The water temperature for hydroponics should be kept between 18 and 25 degrees. Flower lovers should pay attention to placing the plants in a cool and ventilated place.

2. Oxygen

There must be sufficient oxygen in the nutrient solution. You can put some metronidazole, vitamin B12 and charcoal in the water for preservation and to improve the water quality of the nutrient solution.
