1. Characteristics of lily

Appearance: Lily is a perennial herb with a plant height of 70 to 150 cm. Its bulb is spherical, pale white in color, and the tip is often open like a rosette. It is composed of a large number of fleshy, egg-shaped scales. Its stem is upright, cylindrical, dotted with purple spots, hairless, and usually green in color. Lilies are mostly white, funnel-shaped, and solitary at the top of the flower stem.

Uses: Lilies are mainly used for ornamental purposes, especially the cut flower varieties exported from the Netherlands and Japan. The bulbs of lilies are rich in heat-producing starch, and some of them can even be used as vegetables. In addition, the lily bulbs can be washed, dried and used to make soup. Lily can be used as medicine. It is slightly cold and neutral in nature, and has the effects of clearing the lungs and relieving coughs, clearing heat and calming the mind. Many parts of its plant can be used as medicine.

2. How to grow lilies

Seeds: Lily seeds are seed bulbs. If you want them to grow well, you need to choose healthy and strong seed bulbs.

Soil: It is best to choose sandy loam with good drainage and deep soil layer for growing lilies. It can enhance the air permeability in the potting soil and prevent water accumulation.

Temperature: It is necessary to control the temperature of the lily's growing environment. When the temperature is high, it should not exceed 30 degrees Celsius, and when the temperature is low, it should not exceed 10 degrees Celsius. The most suitable temperature for its growth is between fifteen and twenty-five degrees Celsius.

Pruning: Regularly prune the withered and weak branches and leaves on the plant. This can reduce nutrient consumption and allow nutrients in the potting soil to be absorbed by healthier parts of the plant. It can also promote the sprouting of new branches of the plant, making the plant shape better looking.
