Reasons and solutions for white palm not blooming

Anthurium prefers warm, humid and semi-shaded growing conditions. It is sensitive to strong direct light, high temperature and direct exposure. This plant is not tolerant to waterlogging, and it is not suitable to apply excessive fertilizer . It also has poor adaptability to low temperature environments. Therefore, when winter comes, special attention needs to be paid to keeping the white calla lily warm to ensure its safe wintering. Let’s learn the reasons and solutions for the white anthurium not blooming.

1. The plant is not old enough

It takes more than three to four years of care for the white anthurium to bloom. If the white calla lily is propagated by division, the time required will be slightly shorter, but it will still take 2-3 years of care before it will bloom. If the plant is still in its infancy, it is normal not to bloom. Just be patient and take good care of it.

2. Unsuitable environment

White calla lilies need sufficient light, but too strong or too weak light will affect flowering. At the same time, watering and ventilation will also affect the growth and flowering of anthuriums. The plant should be placed in a bright place for maintenance, and attention should be paid to watering and spraying to maintain air humidity.

3. The soil in the pot is too old

If the pot is not changed for a long time, the nutrients in the pot will be severely depleted and cannot meet the plant's needs for flowering. The soil for maintaining white calla lilies should be loose, fertile and rich in organic matter. The soil can be replaced every spring to maintain its fertility.

4. Improper lighting

Long-term lack of light or strong sunlight exposure will affect the growth and flowering of white anthurium. The white calla lily should be placed in a well-lit, ventilated, semi-shaded place with scattered light. During the high temperatures in summer, pay attention to protecting it from light and providing shade.

5. Improper fertilization

Long-term lack of fertilization will cause the anthurium to lack nutrients and be difficult to bloom; excessive fertilization will cause it to grow too tall without flowering. Fertilization should be done reasonably, with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers used as the main fertilizers before flowering, and nitrogen fertilizers used less.

6. Unsuitable soil

Anthurium likes fertile, loose, humus-rich, slightly acidic soil with good drainage and air permeability. Poor air permeability or poor drainage will affect root breathing and easily cause root rot.

7. Improper watering

Anthurium is sensitive to humidity. Excessive watering can cause root rot, affecting growth and flowering; too little watering can cause the leaves to become smaller and turn yellow. The soil in the pot should be kept moist, but avoid waterlogging.

8. The growing space is too crowded

Anthurium grows fast, and if the space in the flowerpot is too small, it will lack oxygen and light, and the soil fertility is limited. In the long run, it will be insufficiently nourished and not conducive to flowering. The pot should be changed in time to give it enough growing space.

In addition, if the temperature is too low, the growth of anthurium will be hindered and it will not bloom easily. In order for the white anthurium to bloom, the temperature must be kept above 22 degrees, but not more than 35 degrees. Maintaining a room temperature of 22 to 28 degrees is conducive to its normal and healthy growth and flowering.
