Lily , as a member of the lily family, is a popular variety of home flowers . It is also known as Casablanca or lily of heaven and is native to areas such as the Himalayas and Australia. With its pure white petals, the fragrant lily is known as the "Queen of Lilies" and its flower language symbolizes "great love". Its floral fragrance is light and pleasant. Let’s learn together how to plant and grow fragrant lilies .

1. Breeding techniques

Lilies can be propagated in a variety of ways, including:

Bulb propagation: Although there are not many bulbs of fragrant lilies, they can be used for propagation.

Bulb propagation: The bulbils of the fragrant lily, which are similar to small bulbs, can be used for propagation.

Seed propagation: The seeds of fragrant lilies are divided into fast-growing and slow-growing types, and the fast-growing seeds have a shorter growth cycle.

Cutting propagation: The stems and leaves of the fragrant lily can grow again in a humid environment.

2. Breeding time

According to the growth habits of the fragrant lily, August to September is the best time for reproduction. If it is potted , September to October is more suitable.

3. Soil Selection

Lilies prefer fertile, loose, well-drained soil. Slightly acidic soil is best, and alkaline or heavy clay soil should be avoided.

4. Suitable temperature

The ideal temperature range for the growth of fragrant lilies is 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. Temperatures that are too high or too low may affect their growth.

5. Lighting requirements

The light requirements of fragrant lilies are different in different growth stages. They need shading during the budding period, shade during the high temperatures in summer, and sufficient light in the early stages of flower development.

6. Water and fertilizer management

The water requirement of fragrant lilies is moderate, and the soil should be avoided from being too wet or waterlogged to prevent root rot. Lily of the valley requires more nitrogen and potassium fertilizers, which should be applied once every ten days to half a month during the peak growing season. At the same time, the use of phosphorus fertilizers should be controlled, as excessive phosphorus fertilizers may cause the leaves to wither and turn yellow.

VII. Precautions

When planting fragrant lilies, proper pruning should be carried out to remove unnecessary parts to promote the healthy growth of the plants. After flowering, you can cut off the remaining flowers to reduce nutrient consumption. If you need to keep the bulbs, you need to continue fertilizing and replenishing nutrients. Regularly rotating the pot can prevent the plant from growing crookedly.

The fragrant lily is not only highly ornamental and suitable for indoor and outdoor placement, but its faint fragrance can also refresh the air and purify the environment. If you are interested in this flower, you might as well try growing it at home.
