1. Different forms

2. Leaf Difference

The leaves of Viola yedoensis are basal. The leaves in the lower part are relatively small, triangular ovate or narrow ovate in shape, while the leaves in the upper part are relatively long, oblong or oblong-ovate in shape, about 1.5-4 cm long, about 0.5-1 cm wide, and pale or light green in color.

The leaves of the bitter herb are oval in shape, the leaves in the upper part are the same shape as the leaves in the lower part, the length of the leaves is about 1.5-3.5 cm, and the color is gray-green.

3. Different flowers

The flowers of Viola yedoensis are medium-sized, violet or lavender in color, sometimes white, with a purple stripe at the throat.

The flowers of the bitter herb are pink to lavender in color and are relatively flat in shape.
