The difference between Hawaiian coconut and miniature coconut

1. Differences in plant types

Hawaiian coconuts are quite tall, growing up to about 3 meters in height. Their stems are very upright and grow in clusters, with several plants growing together. There are obvious bamboo nodes on the plant, each of which is about 10 cm long and looks relatively clear.

The height of the miniature coconut palm is relatively limited, and the plant is relatively short, growing to a maximum of about 1 meter. Only a few branches grow together, and it is difficult to form a clumping state. There are no obvious bamboo nodes on the plant. They look relatively small and difficult to distinguish, about 1 cm in size.

2. Leaf Difference

The leaves of Hawaiian coconut are lanceolate and relatively long, about 35cm in length, but very narrow.

The leaves of the dwarf coconut are relatively short, about 14-22cm in length and about 2-3cm in width. Although short, they are wider than the leaves of the former.

3. Differences between flowers and fruits

Hawaiian coconut has a fleshy cone inflorescence that grows in the axillary part of the stem. The flowers are pink and the berries are purple-red.

Although the flowers of the miniature coconut palm are also cones, they are in the shape of small yellow beads, and the berries are orange-red or yellow.
