What does bayberry look like?

1. Appearance of the fruit

Bayberry matures in June and July. It is round in shape and has small thorns all over its body. As it gradually matures, the thorns will slowly soften and become delicate and soft. When it first starts to grow, the color of the fruit is light red, which turns into dark red as it grows, and then turns red-black when it matures. Red is the main color, and there are white and purple, among which purple is the best. The flesh inside is bright red, relatively tender, full of juice, tastes sour and sweet, and has a very high nutritional value.

2. The appearance of the tree

It is an evergreen tree, about 15 meters tall and 60 cm in diameter, and is relatively sturdy. The outer bark is gray and has shallow longitudinal cracks. The crown is spherical in shape, composed of many branches, and the twigs are hairless.

3. The appearance of leaves

The leaves are leathery and hairless and usually fall off after two years. It is oblong in shape, about 5-14cm long, 1-4cm wide, and the petiole length is about 2-10㎜. The top is dark green, the bottom is lighter green, and has a strong gloss.
