Planting methods and techniques of four-season strawberries

Planting methods and techniques of four-season strawberries

1. Planting time

Four-season strawberries are generally planted in spring and autumn. Spring planting can be chosen from mid-to-late March to early April, and autumn planting can be chosen from mid-to-late August to mid-to-late October. If you want to use a winter-warm greenhouse for planting, you can also plant in winter, and the planting time is not strict.

2. Land preparation and ridge making

The location for planting four-season strawberries needs to have sufficient light and should be sunny, high, flat, with convenient drainage and irrigation, and loose and breathable soil. Remove the weeds from the plot, till the soil 30-40 cm, and apply high-quality organic fertilizer. Four-season strawberries are mostly planted in flat beds. Generally, the bed width is 1.2-1.5 meters, about 10-20 meters long, and the ridge is about 15 centimeters high. The soil should be prepared and properly irrigated with small amounts of water to make the soil sink.

3. Seedling selection and planting

You can directly purchase small seedlings of all-season strawberry and plant them, or you can cultivate the seedlings yourself. It is generally more convenient to purchase small seedlings. Select seedlings with well-developed root systems and no diseases or insect pests. Before planting, remove the old and broken leaves on the strawberry seedlings to reduce nutrient consumption and facilitate survival. Plant the strawberry seedlings into the soil, keeping the spacing between rows and plants at 30×40 cm, and water them thoroughly after planting.

4. Post-management

Four-season strawberry can bloom and bear fruit many times throughout the year. It needs to be fertilized many times during the growing season, and watered in time after each fertilization. Prevent and control weeds in the field, pay attention to thinning flowers and setting fruits, and prevent and control diseases and insect pests.
