What kind of soil should be used to grow Strelitzia reginae, and how many years will it take for it to bloom?

1. Breeding soil

It is best to use fertile, breathable and well-drained soil when growing Strelitzia reginae, because its root system is also fleshy. If the requirements of air permeability and drainage are not met, its growth may be affected. It is also a good idea to prepare the soil yourself by mixing leaf mold, garden soil, coarse sand and cinder particles. In addition, when using poor soil, you should add a certain amount of base fertilizer to help the plant grow.

Note that there must be no insect eggs in the cultivation soil used, and sterilization should be done in advance, otherwise its root system will be harmed during cultivation.

2. How many years of flowering

Generally speaking, it takes at least three years from sowing to flowering. However, the maintenance method will also affect its flowering, and it may take 4-5 years to bloom. The prerequisite for it to bloom is that the leaves grow to 9-10 pieces. If there are too few leaves, it will be difficult for it to bloom.

If the plant does not bloom after due home care, you should consider whether there was a problem with the care. Generally, applying too much nitrogen fertilizer or using an inappropriately sized flowerpot will hinder flowering.
