How to fertilize Osmanthus fragrans

1. Time of fertilization:

Osmanthus fragrans likes heavy fertilizer. Every year after early spring, generally when the temperature at night reaches 15℃, you can apply fertilizer. At this time, it is the initial growth stage of Osmanthus fragrans and requires a lot of nutritional supplements. Between April and May, fertilizer can be applied every half a month. Between June and July, fertilizer needs to be applied at least once every seven to ten days. By early August, it is the last time to fertilize the Osmanthus fragrans. This can promote the growth of the Osmanthus fragrans and make it bloom more and more fragrant flowers. You can choose some chicken, duck, pigeon manure, bone meal and other decomposed fertilizers. If the amount of fertilizer applied is too little, it will affect the growth of Osmanthus fragrans. Not only will its branches and leaves become fewer and the number of flowers will also decrease, but the fragrance will also become weaker. If you are applying compound fertilizer, you can make a few evenly distributed small holes around the soil of the potted Osmanthus fragrans, then put the compound fertilizer into the small holes and cover it with soil. Generally, you need to apply fertilizer once every ten to fifteen days, and wait until the temperature at night drops below 8℃. At this time, you don't need to continue fertilizing.

2. Fertilization method:

Osmanthus fragrans prefers slightly acidic soil rich in humus substances, and the soil must have good drainage. The nutrient soil for cultivating Osmanthus fragrans can be made by mixing humus soil, sandy soil and livestock manure evenly. During the growing season of Osmanthus fragrans, ferrous sulfate solution should be sprayed once every half a month. This can make the branches and leaves of Osmanthus fragrans grow greener. In the early stage of Osmanthus fragrans' flowering, apply more fertilizer water containing diluted nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. This will make the flowers of Osmanthus fragrans bigger and more fragrant.

3. Precautions for fertilizing Osmanthus fragrans:

Although Osmanthus fragrans likes large amounts of fertilizer, organic fertilizers with a large amount of decomposed matter or inorganic fertilizers with particularly high concentrations should not be applied too much at one time. They can be applied in small amounts multiple times.
