Nasturtium cultivation methods and precautions

1. Flower soil

When growing nasturtiums, it is best to use sandy flower soil with a high organic matter content and good air permeability, and maintain its pH between 5-6. If you raise it at home, you can mix garden soil, leaf mold, compost soil and sandy soil in a ratio of 4:4:1:1 to make its flower soil.

2. Lighting

It is not shade-tolerant and needs to be placed in a place with relatively good lighting conditions when growing it. This will ensure that it receives enough sunlight and will not have growth problems due to lack of light. However, when the light is too strong in summer, it needs to be placed in a semi-shaded, ventilated place to prevent it from being sunburned.

3. Temperature

The most suitable temperature for it is 18-24℃. The maximum temperature should not exceed 35℃, otherwise it will be difficult to bloom. The minimum temperature cannot be lower than 10℃, otherwise it may be frozen and the leaves may wilt.

4. Fertilization

When maintaining it normally, you need to apply diluted bean cake water to it once a month. This provides it with nutrients and helps it grow. However, please note that the bean cake water must be fermented before use, otherwise it may cause fertilizer damage.

5. Notes

It is more susceptible to aphids. Therefore, it is best to spray it with some low-concentration medicine every once in a while for prevention.
