Viola yedoensis propagation and cultivation

Viola yedoensis sowing

The soil must be disinfected before sowing in order to cultivate strong seedlings and prevent and control diseases and pests at the seedling stage. After sowing, cover the seeds with fine soil sifted through a fine sieve. The thickness of the cover should be such that the seeds are not visible. Sowing time: Spring sowing in early to mid-March. Autumn sowing in early August. After sowing, control the temperature between 15℃ and 25℃, and seedlings will emerge in about a week.

Propagation of Viola yedoensis by division

First, the greening land should be plowed, sufficient base fertilizer should be applied, and the land should be leveled. The propagation method of division will be more effective. Under the same conditions, the division and transplantation of small Viola yedoensis will have faster seedling growth, higher survival rate, and longer green period.

Natural reproduction of Viola yedoensis

Viola yedoensis has a strong ability to self-propagate, so just let it scatter in the wind and reproduce naturally.

Management of Viola yedoensis seedlings

After the seedlings have emerged, management should be strengthened, especially temperature control should be carried out to prevent them from growing too tall. At this time, there should be sufficient light, the temperature should be controlled at 15℃ during the day and 8℃~10℃ at night, and the soil should be kept slightly dry.

Management of Viola yedoensis during its growth period

Viola yedoensis grows strongly and has strong resistance, but does not require special management during the growth period. During its peak growth season, organic fertilizer can be applied every 7 to 10 days. It will make the landscape effect more beautiful. Pay attention to removing weeds during the growing period, generally do not apply topdressing, and pay attention to drainage during the rainy season.

Harvesting Viola yedoensis seeds

When the seeds of Viola yedoensis mature and dry, they will crack rapidly and eject the seeds. Therefore, the fruit should be harvested after the capsule stands up and before the seed cracks. During the seed drying process, care should be taken to cover the capsule with window screen to prevent the seeds from falling off. The seeds are then sieved and stored dry.
