The difference between Cymbidium and Chunlan

1. Difference of blades

Cymbidium has 5-8 ribbon-shaped leaves. It is quite upright, about 25-80 cm long and 7-12 mm wide, with the base usually folded in half in a V shape, the veins are translucent, and the edges often have coarse serrations.

The leaves of Chunlan are slightly fewer than the former, with 4-7 pieces, which are shorter, with the longest being only 60 cm. The lower part is also folded in a V shape, with no teeth or fine serrations on the edges.

2. The difference between flowers

The color of Cymbidium orchid flowers is light yellow-green, the lip has purple-red spots, the sepals are narrowly obovate, the petals and sepals are similar in shape, and the lip is oblong-ovate. The flowering period is from March to May.

The flowers of Chunlan are green or light brown-yellow with purple-brown veins. The sepals are nearly oblong and then oblong-obovate, the petals are obovate-elliptical and then oblong-ovate, and the lip is nearly ovate. Flowering period is from January to March.
