Cultivation method of Begonia truncatum

Cultivation method of Begonia truncatum

1. Soil

For breeding of iron sea, loose and breathable sandy soil should be used. Peat soil or sandy soil can be added with an appropriate amount of base fertilizer.

2. Water

It is very drought tolerant and does not require much watering. Do not keep the soil wet for a long time as this can easily cause root rot. If the temperature is too high in summer, it will go dormant and the amount of watering should be reduced. In addition, do not water too much during the flowering period, as this will cause the flowers to fall off and in severe cases may cause root rot.

3. Lighting

It is necessary to give the Begonia oleifera sufficient light and enough sunlight during the flowering period. The flowers will be brighter and the flowering period will be extended. If there is not enough sunlight, the flowers will bloom less and the color will be dull. In summer, the sunlight is too strong and shade measures should be taken. In winter, it should be placed on a south-facing balcony or windowsill for maintenance.

4. Fertilization

Do not apply too much fertilizer, just apply 2-3 times of thin fertilizer in spring. It does not like high concentrations of fertilizers, so apply less fertilizer in the fall. During the growth stage, apply fully decomposed cake fertilizer water once every 20-30 days. Do not apply too much nitrogen fertilizer, as it may cause the branches to grow too long.
