Difference Between Dill and Fennel

1. Shape Difference

Dill and fennel are very similar. If you want to distinguish them by appearance, you can only wait until the seeds are dry. It looks very much like fennel, and it also has small yellow flowers and small fruits. Its leaves are bright green and feather-shaped, and it is basically impossible to distinguish between leaves and flowers. After drying, the achenes of dill have a main ridge and two wing-like lateral ridges, and it has one more edge than fennel; while the achenes of fennel have only five protruding main ridges, and they are not obvious.

2. Taste Difference

There is a difference in the taste of these two kinds. Dill has a very strong spicy aroma, but its fragrance is not irritating and smells very mild. It can help soothe emotions, and it tastes a bit like butter. Fennel has a sweeter smell and a stronger taste.
