Cultivation methods and precautions of birch

Cultivation methods and precautions of birch

1. Soil

Birch grows best in loose, slightly acidic soil with good air permeability. In addition, the soil must have good drainage, which will be more conducive to its growth and development.

2. Watering

Birch is not drought-tolerant, so keep the soil moist and water it in time. If it is not watered for a long time, it will not grow. Do not use large amounts of water to irrigate the seedlings. Control the amount of water. It is best to water in small amounts multiple times before the leaves grow. Avoid incomplete watering or watering with large amounts of water.

3. Lighting

White birch likes sunlight, but it needs proper shade when it is a seedling. After entering autumn, it can receive sufficient sunlight, which will be beneficial to its growth.

4. Fertilization

It is best to fertilize white birch mainly with organic fertilizer. You can apply fertilizer appropriately according to its growth conditions. You can apply more nitrogen fertilizer during the seedling to growth period, but you must control the amount of fertilizer to avoid burning the seedlings. Stop applying nitrogen fertilizer in mid-August, otherwise it will cause a low degree of lignification and it will be difficult to survive the winter.

5. Notes

After it has grown for a period of time, it is necessary to weed it appropriately. It is best to pull out the weeds by the roots when the soil is moist. It is necessary to weed about 3-4 times from May to August, and 1-2 times at other times. In addition, the soil should be loosened appropriately after it stops growing, but do not damage it.
