Pomegranate planting technology and management

Pomegranate planting technology and management

The pomegranate tree can both bloom and bear fruit. It can be planted indoors and cultivated for viewing. Because the flowers and fruits are both orange-red, bright and festive, people have given it the meaning of fertility and good fortune.

Pomegranate planting technology

The planting technology of pomegranate is relatively simple. It should be planted in moist, loose and fertile soil in a sunny place sheltered from the wind. Before planting, the land should be carefully cultivated, deep holes should be dug and more base fertilizer should be applied. It is best to plant pomegranate trees in spring.

In addition, pomegranate trees are usually propagated by cuttings or layering. The technology is not complicated and can be propagated according to the planting volume. If it is planted in large quantities, the cutting seedling technology is relatively fast. When cutting, select one-year-old thick branches, cut them into sections about 20 cm long, and use cuttings to grow seedlings in the spring of each year.

Pomegranate Management Methods

After planting the pomegranate seedlings, water them appropriately to keep the soil moist. Be careful not to allow water to accumulate for a long time. In addition, the pomegranate trees should be properly pruned after planting. You can refer to the pruning methods of fruit trees and perform winter pruning in winter every year. Prune or shorten the dense branches, remove or pinch the annual upright branches, thin out diseased and insect-infested branches, and weak branches to enhance the ventilation and light transmission of the pomegranate tree and reduce the occurrence of diseases and pests.
