Christmas cactus grafting time

Regarding the time to graft Christmas cactus, generally speaking, Christmas cactus can be grafted all year round, as long as the temperature is between 10-30 degrees, but the best time to graft Christmas cactus is from March to October each year. The environment at this time is very suitable for the growth of grafted Christmas cactus.

Grafting technology of Christmas cactus

1. Rootstock:

When grafting Christmas cactus, you can choose a one-year-old, healthy and disease-free one as the rootstock. Generally, only 2-3 leaves are retained on the branches used for grafting. The rest of the leaves are removed. Use a knife to shave off the short epidermis to expose its fleshy structure. This will allow the two to fit better and thus improve affinity.

2. Scion:

When grafting, cut off the top node of the stem as the scion, then cut off 1/3 of the lower end of the node to expose the white wood, and finally cut the bottom into a wedge shape. Be careful to use the knife decisively when cutting to avoid damaging its growth cells.
