Ivy cultivation methods and precautions

Ivy cultivation methods and precautions

1. Soil

Ivy is not very demanding on soil, and ordinary growing soil will do. However, you need to change the soil every 1-2 years to ensure that there are sufficient nutrients in the soil.

2. Water

Ivy likes a high-humidity growing environment, whether it is high soil humidity or high air humidity. Usually keep the potting soil moist. When the air is dry, you can spray some water around the plants to improve it. However, you should control watering in winter and let the soil in the pot dry out.

3. Lighting

Ivy likes an environment with plenty of light, but is very afraid of exposure to the sun. Normally, you can place it by the south window to get more sunlight, but in summer you should place it somewhere else to prevent it from being sunburned by excessive light.

4. Temperature

The suitable temperature for ivy growth is 18-20℃. If the temperature exceeds 35℃, it will stop growing. In winter, the temperature needs to be adjusted to above 10℃ and not lower than 5℃, otherwise it will be easily damaged by frost.

5. Notes

1. Prune in time. After growing it for a period of time, the ivy may grow more lush. At this time, it is necessary to cut the leaves in time, control the number of leaves, increase the nutrient intake of a single leaf, and ensure that the leaves are shiny.

2. Apply fertilizer in time. Ivy prefers fertilizer and needs certain fertilizers during its growth period, especially nitrogen fertilizers. Fertilize once a month, apply thin fertilizer frequently, and dilute it with clean water before applying. Stop fertilizing after winter.
