Cultivation methods and precautions of colored calla lily

Cultivation methods and precautions of colored calla lily

1. Breeding methods

1. Soil: When planting this plant, you should choose sandy soil with good air permeability and excellent drainage, and it should be slightly acidic. The bottom of the pot can be lined with a layer of coarse sand, along with some garden soil and rotted leaves. It is best to use a shallow pot for planting it.

Temperature: It prefers a relatively shaded area, so don’t place it in high temperatures. The most suitable growth temperature for it is between 22 and 30 degrees. If it is lower than 20 degrees, its growth rate will become very slow or even stop growing.

Watering: Watering depends on the dryness of the soil. On a daily basis, you can spray water on the surface of the soil and the surface of the flowers to keep the soil moist. During the growth period, it is necessary to give it sufficient water and keep its leaves clean.

Fertilization: This plant is very suitable for phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, and very fertile soil is very beneficial to its growth. If you want to save seeds, you can spray it with potassium dihydrogen phosphate once every 10 days after it bears fruit. The dosage should be moderate, not too large.

Light: This plant likes to grow in a relatively dark environment. It is best to place it in a place with sunlight but not strong sunlight for maintenance. If it is in its vigorous growth period, give it more light.

2. Precautions

1. During its growth period, it should be fertilized once every 20 days, and fermented cake water can be used. When applying fertilizer, be careful not to let the fertilizer penetrate into the leaf sheath, otherwise it will cause it to rot. If there is too little fertilizer, its leaves will turn yellow due to malnutrition.

2. It will go dormant in June and July, at which time you can pick the bulbs around it and replant it. The suitable time for planting it is August and September. If it is propagated by division, it must be done in autumn, otherwise it will not bloom that year. Even if it grows flowers, it will be very late.
