Cultivation methods and precautions of kumquat

Cultivation methods and precautions of kumquat

1. Breeding methods

1. Soil

It likes fertile and loose soil, preferably sandy and acidic. If you want to make it into a potted plant, you can use rotten leaves, sandy soil and a little fertilizer.

2. Temperature and humidity

The temperature range it requires is between 22-28℃. If the temperature in the room is too high, it cannot completely enter dormancy. Its growth in the second year will be poor and its flowers will easily fall off. In winter, the temperature in the house will not be low enough to cause the water to freeze, which will not have an adverse effect on its growth. Although it likes moisture, it is afraid of waterlogging. If the soil in the pot is too moist, its roots will easily rot, so during its growth period, as long as the soil is properly moist, it will be fine.

3. Lighting

It likes areas with long periods of sunlight, warmth and water. When caring for it, it should be placed in a suitable area. If there is not enough light and the atmosphere is too cool, it will grow branches and leaves wildly and produce very few flowers and fruits. Because it likes coolness in summer, if the sun is too strong in summer, it still needs to be shaded.

4. Fertilization

It likes fertilizer very much. From the time its buds begin to sprout to the time it grows flowers, you can add fermented fertilizer water to it once a week. When summer comes, you should add more phosphorus fertilizer to promote the growth of flower buds and fruit. On rainy days, pour out the water in the pot in time, otherwise the roots will rot.

2. Precautions

1. The weather is relatively dry and windy in spring, so you need to sprinkle some water on its leaves every day to help increase the humidity. In summer, you should spray it with water two or three times a day. If it is in the flowering period, you should stop spraying water, otherwise the flowers will rot and the fruits will decrease.

2. In order to make it grow more fruits, it is necessary to prune it. Before its buds grow big, it needs to be heavily pruned, and the dead branches and leaves on the tree should be removed, leaving only three or four strong branches. For each branch, you only need to keep two or three buds near the bottom and cut off the rest.
