Cultivation methods and precautions of Pittosporum

Cultivation methods and precautions of Pittosporum

1. Lighting

Their demand for light is relatively high. It is best to place it outdoors in the summer, but it is also feasible to place it in a cool place. Many plants cannot adapt to too strong light, but it is not the same. Strong light will not have any negative effects on it.

2. Temperature

All plants have their suitable temperature, and the same is true for Pittosporum. It prefers a temperature of 15 to 30 degrees Celsius. But it is not easy to reach this temperature in winter, so you can move it indoors and adjust the temperature indoors to above five degrees Celsius.

3. Watering

Watering is not a difficult task, on the contrary it is very easy, because the amount of watering for Pittosporum is closely related to the season. We need to water more in summer and less in winter. In spring, we need to water it every one to two days, because during this period it needs to grow and start preparing nutrients to nurture flowers. In autumn, the frequency of watering is not low, and we also need to water it every two or three days.

4. Fertilization

Fertilizer has a great influence on Pittosporum tobira. It likes fertilizer very much, so we need to use base fertilizer and top dressing at the same time. In spring, we do not apply top dressing frequently, about once every fifteen to twenty days, with full-effect fertilizer. In summer, we need to apply fertilizer frequently, but not too much at a time. The frequency of fertilization in autumn and spring is the same. Apart from that, we do not need to apply additional fertilizer in winter.

5. Pruning

Because Pittosporum is a plant that grows branches particularly easily, we need to prune it frequently. Generally speaking, in spring we can take care of it according to our favorite shape. If only the top grows, we should also remove the top.
