The difference between the Red Leaf Festival and the Fire Festival

1. Different varieties

The "variety" mentioned here does not mean that they are different species. On the contrary, their species are the same. However, "Momiji Matsuri" is a hybrid of "Akagi Castle" and "Hakamatsuri". In other words, the first plant is the daughter of the second plant, and the second plant is the father (or mother) of the first plant. Although it inherits some characteristics, such as turning red easily, it still has its own characteristics.

2. Different appearance

(1) First of all, there are some differences in the leaves of the two species. We can first look at the first plant, which is the first two pictures. We will find that its leaves are opposite and arranged tightly together. Its leaves are triangular in shape, with many tiny depressions on the surface, which cannot be seen without careful observation. In addition, there are some fine white hairs on the edges of its leaves, which form a white edge. Next, let’s look at the second plant, which is the third and fourth pictures. We will find that although its leaves are also opposite, there is no white fluff on their edges, and of course there is no beautiful white edges.

(2) There are also subtle differences in the colour of their leaves. The older leaves of the first plant are either brown-red or dark red, and the colors are relatively dark. However, for the second plant, its leaves are red or light red, the color is lighter and relatively brighter.
