When to transplant onions

When to transplant onions

Onion is one of the main grown vegetables in China and is mainly distributed in Fujian, Shandong, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and other places. Onion is rich in nutrients and can be used to lower blood pressure, relieve stress, prevent colds, and also resist aging and prevent osteoporosis. It is suitable for consumption by middle-aged and elderly people.

Onion transplanting time

Transplanting onions is generally done in September. Transplanting at this time can help the plants survive the winter better. If the transplanting time is too early, the plants will suffer from frost damage. If the transplanting time is too late, the onion seedlings will grow poorly, thereby reducing their yield.

Onion transplanting method

1. Soil selection

When transplanting onions, you need to provide them with loose, breathable soil rich in humus. You can apply decomposed farm manure to the soil to improve the fertility of the soil and provide the nutrients needed for the growth of onion seedlings. You also need to mix carbendazim powder and insecticides into the soil to eliminate insect eggs and pests in the soil.

2. Transplanting method

When transplanting onions, you need to screen out weak, diseased and insect-infested seedlings to promote later growth. Transplant the remaining onions evenly into the soil and control the spacing between onions. It should not be too small, otherwise it will affect the growth of the onions.

Onion transplanting care

When transplanting onions in winter, you need to provide them with a warm living environment with a suitable temperature of 16℃-28℃. Keep them warm in time to avoid frost damage. After transplanting, you need to add an appropriate amount of water. The soil should not be too dry, but you cannot water it immediately. Let it slowly adapt to the environment first.
