Will aloe vera freeze to death in winter?

Do plants freeze to death in winter?

To answer this question, we first need to understand some of its habits. Because this plant is native to tropical regions, it is both heat-resistant and drought-resistant, and has a relatively strong survival ability, so it is relatively easy to grow in spring, summer and autumn. However, it is very not cold-resistant, so we can infer that the plant needs special management in winter. If you are not careful, the plants can easily be frostbitten or even frozen to death. So, if you want it to survive the winter safely, how do you deal with the temperature factor?

Specific methods

First of all, we need to understand that the minimum temperature for plant growth is around ten to twelve degrees Celsius. If the temperature is lower than this, its growth will stagnate. If the temperature drops further, below five degrees, the plants will be susceptible to disease. If the temperature continues to drop below zero, it will easily freeze to death. Because there are climate differences between the south and the north, the insulation methods in different regions are also different, and must be adjusted according to specific circumstances.

Generally speaking, if you are growing plants at a lower latitude, it is best to place the plants indoors. However, in sunny weather, you can take the plant out to bask in the sun, but be sure to put it away before sunset. We can also cover the plants with a film and place them where they can get sunlight. If you are growing plants in places with higher latitudes, you must move the plants to indoor places with air conditioning or heating in winter. Of course, you can also move them to greenhouses. If you want to grow it outdoors, you must cover it with multiple layers of plastic film to keep it out of the cold.
