How to plant mountain tortoise

1. Prepare the flower pot

Before planting the mountain tortoise, you need to prepare a suitable flower pot to provide a suitable environment for its growth. Its root system is relatively developed, so the flower pot cannot be too shallow, and a deeper flower pot needs to be selected. The material must be breathable, and a ceramic or clay basin can be used.

2. Soil Preparation

There are requirements for the soil when planting mountain tortoises. They like highly air-permeable and relatively loose soil. You cannot use a single garden soil. You can mix leaf mold, garden soil, slag, and granular soil together. You can also mix garden soil, peat soil, perlite, and volcanic rock and add an appropriate amount of base fertilizer. After preparation, it cannot be used directly for planting. It needs to be disinfected first to remove the bacteria and insect eggs inside.

3. Judging the positive and negative

Mountain turtle is planted through the tubers underneath. Before planting, you need to determine the upper and lower parts. This is very important and also a point that is easy to confuse for novices. There is a bud point in the middle of the upper part, which is slightly sunken. Apart from the bud point, it is relatively clean. The bottom surface is slightly curved and has many roots. If you look closely, you can easily distinguish them.

4. Planting

Prepare the soil and plant the mountain tortoise with the bottom facing down. Keep the soil moist but without water accumulation, and do a good job of subsequent maintenance and management.
