Is the peony a peony?

Peony

The peony is also called the purse flower. Its flowers are small and exquisite, and their shape is very similar to a purse. The colors are relatively bright and very ornamental. Therefore, it is very ornamental. Not only that, it can also be used as a medicinal material. Because the leaves of the peony are similar to peonies and the flowers look like purses, it is called the peony, but it is not a peony.

Growth habit

The peony can withstand cold weather but not high temperatures. It likes to grow in a semi-shaded environment and will go dormant when the temperature is relatively high in the summer. The peony needs sufficient water, and the soil must be kept moist at all times so that it can grow normally.

Beautiful legend

According to legend, in ancient times, there was a place called Ruzhou in Luoyang, and in the state there was a small town called Miaoxia. There is a wonderful custom here. When a man and a woman get engaged, the woman will personally give a purse to the man. If there is a child engagement, the woman's family will also ask the woman's relatives to embroider one and give it to the man as a token of love.

There was a girl named Yunu in the town. She was only eighteen years old and had superb embroidery skills. Many people came to propose marriage to her, but they were all rejected by her family. It turned out that the girl already had a man she liked and he was recognized by her family. Unfortunately, the man was exiled and there was no news from him. Later, the girl would embroider a purse every month to represent her longing for the man, and hung the purse on the peony outside the window. Later, what people often call peony came into being.
