Maintenance methods and precautions of sedge

Soil selection for sedge

Orchidaceae is a plant of the orchid family. Like other plants of the orchid family, it has fleshy roots, so it needs to be planted in slightly acidic, iron-containing sandy loam with good air permeability. It is better to mix it with mountain soil rich in humus or peat soil.

Water supply of sedge

The grass requires more water during its growth period, so special attention should be paid to water control in summer and winter. If it lacks water in summer, it will grow poorly. The principle of watering the orchid should be followed: "water when dry, stop when wet, and keep it slightly dry". Excessive watering can easily cause root lack of oxygen and root rot. Watering is generally done in the early morning or evening. Do not water at noon because the water temperature will rise quickly after watering at noon, which can easily burn the plants. Pay attention to water control in winter, because the plant metabolism is weaker when the temperature is lower and less water is needed to prevent the potting soil from freezing and frostbiting the roots.

Fertilization measures for sedge grass

When fertilizing the grass, you can use farmyard manure diluted 10 times for watering. When watering, try to water along the edge of the pot, do not touch the roots, do not get it on the leaves, and avoid burning the plant. When applying chemical fertilizers, pay attention to balancing the ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, and be sure to strictly control the concentration. Spraying foliar fertilizer can not only supplement the plant's nutrients through leaf absorption, but also avoid direct contact of fertilizer with the roots and cause fertilizer damage. This is the best way to fertilize for sedge. During the peak growth period, spray foliar fertilizer once every 10 days or so. You can grow the herb well without applying fertilizer to the pot. When applying fertilizer, pay attention to applying it frequently and thinly, and apply small amounts frequently.
