How to propagate the money tree

How to propagate the money tree

The money tree is a common plant in many households. People usually buy the money tree through flower markets or online stores. In addition to purchasing, the money tree can also be propagated by cuttings. Let’s learn the method of cuttings of money tree.

1. Cutting time

May to August is the best time for money tree cuttings , as the climate is warm and suitable, which is conducive to the rooting of branches. Low temperature environment may freeze the branches and affect the survival rate of cuttings.

2. Cutting method steps

Potting soil selection: Choose soil with good air permeability and water permeability. You can make your own mixed soil, such as a mixture of coarse sand, vermiculite and perlite. Avoid using heavy clay soils to prevent root rot.

Branch selection: Choose strong branches of the current year, avoid using tender branches, and control the length to 7-10 cm. Use sterilized scissors to cut the branches, making sure to make a clean cut.

Branch processing: Cut the lower end of the branch into an oblique end, leaving only 1-2 leaves on the top, and remove the rest of the leaves to reduce nutrient consumption. Apply rooting powder to the oblique cut to promote rooting.

3. Cutting operation

Use sterilized substrate to put into the flowerpot and pour appropriate amount of water. Carefully insert the branch into the substrate to avoid damaging the cut.

4. Maintenance and management

Place the potted plants after cuttings in a cool, dark environment. Spray water appropriately to maintain humidity, and it will take about 20 days to take root.

In short, by carefully selecting the cutting time and appropriate cutting method, the propagation of money tree can be easily achieved at home. Correct steps and maintenance measures can help improve the survival rate of cuttings.
