Pest and disease control of silver thorn

Pest and disease control of silver thorn

1. Fusarium wilt

The easiest and most serious disease for silver thorn is wilt, which is a soil-borne disease. The most severe period is from June to August. When the soil is too sticky, the air permeability and drainage are poor, or the terrain is very low, this disease is easy to occur and it is very serious, directly leading to the death of many seedlings. It is difficult to control the disease with drugs at this time, so the most effective way is to improve the growth environment and strengthen the tree vigor. This way the disease can be effectively prevented and controlled.

2. Psyllium

During its growth period, there are many pests that harm the branches and leaves of the silver thorn. The most common pest is the mimosa psyllid of the Albizia albizzia. This pest mainly absorbs its tender branches and leaves, and secretes a kind of wax silk, which will cause the small leaves to begin to shrink and fall off, and even sooty mold disease will occur. This will directly affect the normal growth landscape of the plant, so we must carry out prevention and control. From May to June every year, we must increase the use of pesticides to prevent it. The earlier the prevention and control, the smaller the chance of the disease and insect.

3. Gummosis

This disease usually occurs when the gums are oozing out due to injury. Therefore, we must do a better job in preventing and controlling pests and diseases. Generally, we should leave short stumps when tending and pruning in the woods. This can greatly reduce mechanical damage and make it less likely to get this disease.

4. Black Grasshopper

Sometimes, pests such as black grasshoppers are likely to appear. They will eat the branches and leaves of the silverthorn. Black grasshoppers usually lay eggs in the branch tips, which will cause the branch tips to begin to wither and die. So our best method of prevention and control at this time is, first, to burn the branches where the black grasshoppers lay their eggs, and second, to spray them with certain pesticides, which will play a good preventive role.
