What are the varieties of pitcher plants?

Cobra Pitcher Plant

The Cobra Pitcher Plant is named after its leaves which resemble a cobra. It is a more valuable variety of Pitcher Plant. It is mainly distributed in northern California on the west coast of the United States. It is cold-resistant and heat-sensitive. When caring for it, you should pay attention to keeping the roots cool. It can be watered with rainwater or pure water. A large temperature difference between day and night is necessary for its growth.

Pitcher Plant

Also known as sweet pitcher plant, it emits a sweet smell. The slender red pitcher plant has no flares on its leaves, and its insect capsule looks like a narrow red lip, making it very easy to identify. It is mainly distributed in Carolina, Georgia and the Gulf Coast of the United States. Relatively speaking, the pitcher plant is larger in size and its flowers are bisexual.

Pitcher Plant

Yellow pitcher plant is the largest species of the pitcher plant, reaching up to one meter in height. The leaves have a trumpet-shaped opening with smooth edges and a triangular lid. They are yellow-green with dark red veins. The flowers are light yellow and have a musty smell. Pitcher plant grows in wetlands or swamps.

Purple pitcher plant

The lips and lid of the purple pitcher plant's mouth can secrete honey and scents, but the amount secreted is relatively small. It is the shortest species of the pitcher plant, only about 30 cm tall, with short and fat leaves and thick lips. It is widely distributed and can be found on the east coast of the United States, the Great Lakes region, and southeastern Canada.

White pitcher plant

The insect-catching leaves of the white pitcher plant are all white, with spots and red net patterns on the leaves, and the insect sac is white near the opening. It is distributed along the east coast and Gulf coast of the United States, and can be found in swamps, wetlands and pine forests.

Sarracenia

The small pitcher plant is also called the "waving pitcher plant". The pitcher stem of the small pitcher plant is long and narrow. Insects that fall into the pitcher plant find it difficult to fly out after falling into it, and the insects cannot fly out of the narrow tube. The leaf tips are bent at right angles, similar to those of the Corydalis but thinner. It is native to the swamp areas on the east coast of the United States and is currently distributed on both the east and west coasts of the United States.
