Farming methodsOverall, the dense-leaved waterlily is relatively easy to maintain. It can be given sufficient light in spring and autumn, and watered thoroughly when the weather is dry. Occasionally watering it a few days earlier or later will not have much impact. As long as the soil is loose and breathable, peat soil: coconut coir mixed with perlite can be used in a ratio of approximately 2:1. The dense-leaved lotus is sensitive to light. If there is insufficient light, the leaves in the middle of the plant will easily turn white. If this phenomenon occurs, you can consider increasing the light appropriately. The dense-leaved water lily can withstand temperatures as low as around 0℃ in winter. If the temperature drops further, it should be moved indoors and attention should be paid to keeping warm. In summer, the dormancy of the dense-leaved water lily is not obvious, and it is not difficult to survive the summer with proper shade. Reproduction methodThe propagation method of dense-leaved lotus can be leaf cuttings or branch cuttings. Leaf cuttings should choose relatively thick and healthy leaves, and branch cuttings can choose its side buds for propagation. The best season for propagation is spring and autumn. |
