Zibao's family breeding methods and precautions

Farming methods

Water and fertilizer management

Zibao watering method: Keep the soil moist during the spring and autumn growing seasons and in summer, and water it thoroughly when it is dry in winter. It is recommended to water once every 20 to 30 days in summer and 30 to 40 days in winter.

Fertilization method for Zibao: Fertilize once a month during the spring and autumn growing season, using diluted cake fertilizer water or "Huiyou" 15-15-30 potted flower fertilizer.

Temperature and light requirements

The suitable temperature for Zibao’s growth is 13-21℃. It is not cold-resistant but can tolerate semi-drought.

Zibao's light requirements: Zibao likes warm, dry and sunny environment, avoids direct sunlight, and provides appropriate shade in summer.

Ventilation treatment

When growing S. truncatum indoors, you must pay attention to ventilation and light transmission. S. truncatum grown in a dark environment for a long time will not only fail to produce variegated flowers, but will also easily turn green to black, affecting its ornamental value.

Reproduction method

Zibao can be propagated by sowing, division, or leaf cuttings. The seedlings can easily outgrow their pots, and often fill up your small pot, so division is a very good way of propagation.

Precautions

Common diseases

Common diseases of Zibao include leaf spot and rust, which can be treated by combining manual cleaning and chemical control.

Avoid strong light exposure

Zibao tolerates semi-shade, but likes places with light. If the plant is exposed to direct strong light, the spots on the leaves will be affected and the leaves will be easily burned.
