How to grow copper coin grass

How to grow copper coin grass

1. Soil

Pennywort is relatively easy to grow. It does not have high requirements for soil and can grow even in slightly poor soil. However, pennywort is a plant that is not drought-tolerant. Based on this, it requires the soil to be loose, breathable and well-drained. The soil is the key to growing pennywort. Suitable soil is conducive to the growth of pennywort and will not cause the roots of pennywort to rot and die.

2. Light and Temperature

The pennywort can accept half-day sunlight and is relatively shade-tolerant, but it should avoid direct sunlight. Therefore, the pennywort can be placed in a semi-shaded environment for maintenance, but not too shaded. Insufficient light will cause the leaves of the pennywort to rot, so it is necessary to ensure 4 to 6 hours of light every day, which is conducive to the growth of the pennywort.

The pennywort is not resistant to high temperatures or cold weather. It requires a relatively warm growing environment and generally grows well between temperatures of 10 and 25°C. The summer temperature should not exceed 32°C, and the winter overwintering temperature should not be lower than 5°C.

3. Watering and fertilizing

The pennywort has high requirements for water and prefers a moist environment. In summer, the temperature is high, the leaves of the pennywort are more, and water is lost very easily, so you need to replenish water more in summer. Spraying water on the plant frequently can increase the air humidity, which has a cooling effect. It can also make the leaves of the pennywort neat and clean, facilitating photosynthesis. The temperature is low in winter, and the pennywort requires the soil in the pot to be relatively dry. It would rather be dry than wet. There should not be stagnant water in the pot. Stagnant water will make the roots of the pennywort breathe poorly and cause root rot.

When watering the pennywort, generally water it once every half a month during the growing season to keep the soil in the pot moist. If the pennywort is grown in water, the water should be changed every 7 to 10 days in spring and summer, and once every half a month in autumn and winter. Under normal circumstances, tap water in the north needs to be left in the sun or shade for 1 to 2 days before use.

The demand for fertilizer of copper coin grass is also relatively large. During the vigorous growth period of copper coin grass, top dressing can be applied every 2 to 3 weeks. The amount of fertilizer can be determined according to the size of the growing container of the pennywort. If the container is small, the amount of fertilizer can be appropriately reduced to avoid fertilizer damage.

IV. Precautions

1. Selection of flower pots. When choosing a flowerpot for pennywort, you should decide based on the size of the plant. Generally speaking, pennywort does not require a very large pot. You can use a larger bowl or a daffodil pot to maintain it. When planting pennywort, basically just cover the rhizomes and don't bury them too deep. After planting, place the pennywort in a semi-shaded place and wait for a period of time before exposing it to sunlight.

2. Pruning. The pennywort rarely needs to be pruned, but if its leaves are too dense or turn yellow, it needs to be pruned to remove the yellow leaves and excess leaves. In spring, you can repot the pennywort, prune the roots and divide the plants for reproduction. It is, and you can also shape the pennywort when repotting it. The plant of the strong light pennywort is too tall and appears to be growing too tall. The high fat branches of the pennywort should be cut off to make it grow more new branches.
