How to grow Desert Rose

How to grow Desert Rose

Watering

Desert rose prefers a relatively dry environment, so do not water it too much. Too much watering for a long time will cause waterlogging in the potting soil, resulting in root rot, and will also make the branches grow too long, destroying the original ornamental value.

Watering should be done based on comprehensive considerations of weather conditions and other factors such as the cultivation substrate. Generally, water once every 3 days in spring and autumn, once every 1-2 days in summer, and less in winter, once a week is enough.

Fertilization

During the growing period of Desert Rose, apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers and less nitrogen fertilizers, because nitrogen fertilizers can cause excessive growth of branches and leaves and inhibit the growth of the plant. When the plant enters the growth and reproduction period, mainly use phosphorus and potassium fertilizers and stop using nitrogen fertilizers.

Generally, stop fertilizing during the flowering period. A long flowering period will consume a lot of its own nutrients. You can add some quick-acting fertilizers appropriately, but the concentration should not be too high. Fertilize once every 2-3 weeks during the period of vigorous growth, and stop fertilizing during the winter dormancy period.

illumination

Desert rose is suitable for growing in a light, warm and sufficient growing environment. Generally, it does not need shading. It can be placed in a place with sufficient light for maintenance. However, the light in the south is relatively strong in summer. Pay attention to the leaves, take good care of it, and provide appropriate shade.
