How to sow lavender

Planting container selection

When growing lavender at home, you can use smaller flower pots or other containers instead. For example, for a yogurt box, use an awl to poke a few small holes at the bottom of the box. Disposable plastic cups can also be used, but because they are transparent, it is best to cover them with black paper or put a paper cup on them (if the roots of the plants are exposed to sunlight, it will affect their growth and the soil will easily grow green moss).

Soil requirements

Lavender seeds are relatively small and have a low germination rate, so the soil used for sowing generally needs to be loose, breathable, have high water holding capacity, and be thoroughly disinfected. You can use a mixture of vermiculite, peat, sphagnum moss, perlite, sawdust, etc. If you have the conditions, you can configure it yourself.

Daily care of lavender

Watering

Lavender does not like water to remain stagnant near its roots. After watering thoroughly once, you should wait until the soil is dry before watering again. The surface of the culture medium should be dry, the inside should be moist, and the leaves should be slightly wilted.

Sunlight

It is a full-sun plant that requires plenty of sunlight and a suitably humid environment. It is best to be able to grow in a full-sun environment, but it can also grow in half-sun conditions, but the flowers are more sparse. In summer, at least 50% of the sunlight should be blocked and ventilation should be increased to lower the ambient temperature. Although the growth will be weakened, the plant will not die.
