How to propagate jasmine

How to propagate jasmine

1. Seed propagation

It can be propagated by sowing. In autumn, the fruits are ripe, so we can pick the fruits, wash out the seeds, and sow them in pots in the room. Of course, before sowing, we must first select the soil in the pot, which should be loose and breathable. In addition, we should add a little base fertilizer, which is also conducive to the germination of the seeds. After sowing, we just need to carry out proper maintenance.

2. Cutting propagation

For cuttings, we can do it in spring. Choose some branches or tops that look relatively thick. The length of the cuttings can be 10 cm to 12 cm. Just leave a pair of leaves on the top, cut off all the leaves below, and then insert them into sandy loam. After about 50 to 60 days, they will start to heal and grow roots. In this way, the cuttings can be considered to have survived.

3. Layering propagation

The same is also better in spring. You can also choose some relatively sturdy one to two year old branches, and use a knife to peel the bark in a circular pattern on the relatively smooth part. The width of the peeling should be about 1 cm to 1.5 cm. Then wrap the wound with moist moss mixed soil. The diameter of the soil ball is about 6 cm to 8 cm. Then wrap it with external plastic film. Wait until the roots gradually grow at the peeled position. In autumn, you can cut it off and plant it in a pot.

4. Tips

No matter which method is used for reproduction, the soil should be loose and fertile when selected. In addition, it is necessary to ensure that it has sufficient light, because it particularly likes light. It only needs appropriate shade in the summer. Also, remember to water it with thin fertilizer water once a month during the growing season. Finally, remember to control the temperature and be sure to choose the right temperature for its reproduction.
