The growing period of other succulents is mainly in spring and autumn. When the temperature is high in summer, their growth stagnates slightly. It is also appropriate to repot these succulents in spring.

Generally speaking, succulent plants need to be repotted after one year of cultivation. At this time, the nutrients in the pot tend to be exhausted, the soil will become compacted, and the air and water permeability are poor. The roots of succulents fill the pot, and there is an urgent need to improve the cultivation environment of the roots. Generally, it is best to repot succulents between April and May every spring when the temperature reaches around 15 °C. However, some succulent plants of the Euphorbiaceae and Apocynaceae families have very thick and few roots, so they only need to be repotted once every 2-3 years or even longer. There is no need to cut the roots or dry them when repotting. Try to avoid damaging the roots as much as possible. Water the plant appropriately after repotting and place it in a semi-shaded place for maintenance.

Succulents that have just been repotted tend to have their stems soften or keep losing leaves. This phenomenon is mostly caused by the fact that the roots of succulents are damaged during the repotting process, which makes the roots unable to absorb water normally. After entering the new pot, succulents need to go through a 1-2 week root growth process before returning to normal. During this process, do not water too much, just spray it on a daily basis to increase the humidity of the surrounding air.

Preparation

Except for a few succulent varieties with fleshy roots and tall columnar shapes that can use deep pots, most succulents are suitable for shallow pots, or you can place the succulents directly on the soil. It is best for beginners to grow succulents to choose a ceramic pot with small holes at the bottom.
