What is white frost on succulents?

1. Normal phenomenon

The growth of white frost on succulents is a natural phenomenon. Some varieties will have it on their leaves, such as Snow Lotus, Fairy Cup, Ping Pong Fortune Lady, Guanghan Palace, etc. Some varieties like Orange Monroe, Oplina, Peach Egg, etc. have a thin layer on them, which is easy to fall off. This is secreted by themselves and can play a protective role, just like a layer of protection. It has many benefits. It can prevent sun exposure in summer and keep warm in winter. Therefore, you must pay attention during the maintenance process. Do not wipe it off with your hands, and do not water the leaves when watering to prevent the white frost from falling off.

2. Powdery mildew

In addition to this natural phenomenon, it is also possible that the plant has powdery mildew, which is different from natural white frost. It is a fungal disease. There are some differences if you observe carefully. There will be white frost on the leaves at the beginning, and then it will feel a little moldy later, and it is contagious. If this happens, it needs to be dealt with in time, the infected leaves should be cut off, and then sprayed with medicine for treatment, otherwise other leaves will be infected and the leaves will rot. It is very easy to distinguish between these two situations. If infected, uneven spots will appear, which looks ugly, and some will have white hair on them.
