1. What plants

Sea buckthorn is a perennial deciduous shrub of the genus Hippophae rhamnoides in the family Elaeagnaceae. This plant is highly drought-tolerant and resistant to wind and sand. The leaves are shield-shaped at both ends, with a relatively wide base, green on the surface with white soft hairs, and silvery-white on the back with scales. Its petiole is relatively short, only 1.5 mm in length, and some are almost absent.

3. Flowers and fruits: Sea buckthorn flowers are dioecious. Male flowers have no pedicels, relatively large sepals, and 4 stamens. The pedicel of the female flower is relatively short, the calyx tube is oval, the ovary has one chamber with upright ovules, and the style is filamentous. Its fruit is spherical, with a diameter of 4-6 mm, orange-yellow or orange-red in color, and a relatively short stalk. Its flowering period is from April to May, and it will bear fruit afterwards. The fruit is spherical, orange-yellow or orange-red in color, and matures in September and October.
