When does the loofah flower bloom?

When does the loofah flower bloom?

1. When will it bloom?

Normally, it blooms from summer to autumn.

We all know that loofah flowers belong to the Cucurbitaceae family. Their stems look thin and long, and their leaves are a bit like palms, with many cracks on them. They are large and pointed, and have serrations on them. Generally, in the summer, the leaf axils will begin to condense, and at this time many flowers will begin to bloom on the stems. They usually bloom in the morning and wither in the evening, and then bloom in stages until autumn.

2. How to make it bloom

1. Appropriate lighting

Luffa is actually a short-day plant. It does not need too much light every day, but the light needs to be strong. The stronger the light, the better it will grow, which is also conducive to its flowering. In addition, although it prefers strong light, it can also tolerate a little weak light. When it is in the seedling stage, it is best to give it short-term sunshine and a large temperature difference, which will increase the yield in the later stage. Afterwards, during the entire gestation period, continue to give it shorter daylight hours and higher temperatures, which will allow its stems and leaves to develop better and, of course, produce more flowers.

2. Suitable temperature

It likes heat very much and is temperature-resistant. It can grow well at normal temperatures of 20 to 30 degrees. So if conditions permit, try to place it in a greenhouse and keep the temperature within this range so that it can bloom as soon as possible.

3. Appropriate moisture

Many plants are very afraid of too wet soil, but loofah is an exception. It likes moisture very much, so the humidity in the soil should be relatively high, generally above 70% is best, and the minimum should not be lower than 50%, otherwise its growth will slow down.

4. Suitable soil

For it, it is very rough when choosing soil, and its requirements are not that high. Basically, all types of soil can be handled. However, in order to make it bloom more, it is best to use some loam with high organic matter content, thick soil layer, good air permeability and good water retention.
