How to hydroponically cultivate spring fern

Spring Rain Hydroponics Method

Remove dirt from the roots

The mother plant for hydroponics should preferably be a well-growing, healthy and harmless plant. Then, after loosening the soil in the pot, gently take out the spring fuchsia seedlings, shake off all the soil at the roots, rinse the entire plant with water, remove rotten leaves, and do not bring any soil, otherwise it may carry bacteria or pollute the water quality, causing the roots of the spring fuchsia to rot.

Root pruning

After rinsing the plant clean, cut its old roots short by 2/3-3/4, and also cut off the weak roots, old roots, and dead roots, leaving only new roots.

Sterilization

After trimming the roots, they need to be disinfected. You can soak the roots of the spring fern in 3% to 5% thiophanate-methyl solution for about ten minutes.

Aquatic root induction

Use Yuhua stones to fix the spring feather plants in the planting basket, or use perlite, vermiculite, etc. to fix them. In this process, the roots must be evenly penetrated into the bottom holes of the planting basket, and the root system is also required to stretch out. Then they can be placed in the induction pool for growth. However, if we do not have such conditions, we can also make an acclimation box ourselves. Choose a plastic bucket that is about the same size as the planting basket, then put the planting basket in and add water until it reaches the bottom of the planting basket. After that, you can put it in the shade shed for root induction. Remember to check the water level in the box regularly and spray water frequently. New roots will grow in about 10-20 days, and the induction will be successful.

Spring Feather Hydroponics Management

Temperature and light

Spring fern likes a warm environment, preferably kept at 18-30℃, and above 5℃ in winter. Spring fern likes sunlight and is also shade-tolerant, but it should be kept away from direct sunlight in the summer and attention should be paid to ventilation.

Nutrient solution

Change the water once a week and add nutrient solution in proportion. You can also use it to spray the leaves.

Spring fern grows very fast, and you may need to replace the planting basket and vase after a year. This is the end of the introduction to the hydroponic method. I hope everyone can succeed in hydroponics.
