What to do if the arrowroot leaves are curled

What to do if the arrowroot leaves are curled

1. Water moderately

Reason: There are many varieties of arrowroot, and their water requirements are different. If the amount of water is not controlled well, it will easily cause the leaves to curl.

Solution: For varieties of arrowroot with thin and large leaves, water them frequently, once a day during the growing season. However, for varieties with thicker and longer leaves, the watering intervals should be longer, usually 3-4 times a day in summer. At the same time, in low temperature seasons, water less and keep the soil dry.

2. Shade and avoid light

Reason: Arrowroot does not require very much light and is easily burned by strong light, causing the leaves to curl.

Solution: Provide moderate shade during its growing period. Especially during the hot summer season, avoid exposure to the sun. You can put it in semi-shade and receive scattered light. But it can see light every morning and evening to prevent poor development, thinning of leaves, etc.

3. Improve ventilation

Reason: Poor air circulation will cause the arrowroot to breathe poorly, resulting in poor growth and curling of leaves.

Solution: Place the arrowroot in a well-ventilated area. If you grow it indoors, you can place it in a spacious room and open the windows every day to improve air circulation. Especially in environments with high humidity, air circulation can reduce the risk of bacterial growth.

4. Disease prevention and treatment

Reason: Arrowroot is susceptible to leaf spot during its growth period, and the leaves of diseased plants will dry up and curl.

Solution: First cut off the diseased branches and leaves and destroy them in a centralized manner to avoid the spread of germs. Then spray Bordeaux mixture. The concentration should not be too high, about 0.5%-1% is enough. Generally, spraying twice is enough to cure the disease. To prevent the disease from recurring, place the plant in a ventilated place and reduce watering.
